    About the role:

    The community mental health rehabilitation team provides a voluntary, Trauma Informed, Recovery Orientated service. This multidisciplinary team provides mental health, medical and psychosocial support based on individuals' needs by specialised, goal focused support for people to move forward with their life and their recovery. The nurse will hold a caseload of clients that have been referred to the Rehabilitation Team.

    Program of Early Intervention and Prevention of Disability (PEIPOD) is a multidisciplinary early intervention service for young people with the recent onset of psychosis or a mood disorder. The purpose of this role is to provide assessment and psychological therapy, work collaboratively with young people across both the inpatient and community settings, and work in close partnership with local non-government organisations.

    The registered nurse provides evidence-based nursing care to people of all ages and cultural groups, including individuals, families and communities. The focus of this role is to address the physical health needs of our mental health consumers within the community mental health service.

    About you:
    We are seeking a skilled and energetic Mental Health Nurse who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who:

    • Ensures provision of individualised assessment and rehabilitation interventions focusing on assisting in improvement in function and the building of consumer strengths both for young people and adults.
    • Ensures that consumer and/or carers of the service participate in their own treatment and wellness plans.
    • Ensures provision of individual and group programs which maximize individual role functioning and independence based on identified needs of consumers.
    • Ensure the application of all Quality Improvement principles within individual clinical practice as well as the overall service
    • Ensure that a focus is maintained on the physical health needs of the consumers of the rehabilitation and PEIPOD services.

    Selection Criteria:
    1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia
    2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

    3. Ability to work collaboratively with young people and adults within a trauma informed and recovery framework

    4. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex mental health service

    5. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis while working with clients experiencing complex needs including mental illness, homelessness and drug and alcohol use

    6. Demonstrated ability to carry out comprehensive physical health (including metabolic measures) and mental health assessment and carry out a care plan, working within the multidisciplinary team

    7. Unrestricted NSW Driver's License
