    Job Description:

    As a permanent member of our client's team, you will work closely with their Project Coordinator to develop detailed shop drawings, prepare efficient CNC machining programs, and ensure the safe operation of their state-of-the-art CNC routers.

    Develop innovative CNC programs to optimize material usage and minimize machine time. Collaborate with customers to refine shop drawings and address feedback. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance our production processes.

    Purpose of Position

    The Cabinet Vision CNC Programmer plays a critical role in creating and optimizing CNC programs to produce precision cabinetry components.

    This role involves working with Cabinet Vision software to develop detailed shop drawings, prepare CNC machining programs, and ensure efficient and safe operation of CNC routers.

    The role will be programming lockers, joinery, and cubicles using Cabinet Vision.

    Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    Project Designs and Shop Drawings

    • Collaborate with the Project Coordinator to fully understand project requirements and deadlines.
    • Seek clarification or additional information through the Project Coordinator when necessary.
    • Develop precise shop drawings for customer review, ensuring all relevant details are clearly indicated.
    • Submit and review shop drawings with customers through the Project Coordinator.
    • Address customer feedback and revise drawings as needed.
    • Track and manage drawing approvals until final customer confirmation is received.

    CNC Programming and Operations

    • Develop CNC machining programs based on approved shop drawings using Cabinet Vision software.
    • Ensure efficient program designs that maximize material usage and minimize machine time.
    • Utilize manual and automatic nesting techniques to optimize material layouts.
    • Adhere to company machining instructions and best practices when selecting machining strategies and tool paths.
    • Work with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, and Enroute software as required.
    • Coordinate with the Procurement Coordinator to generate material picking instructions for machining.
    • Prepare comprehensive CNC operator packs, including CNC machine posts, material picking instructions, shop drawings, nesting layouts, and any special instructions.
    • Brief CNC operators and hand over necessary materials as per the production schedule set by the Operations Manager.
    • Maintain accurate records of shop drawings and CNC programs in line with company procedures.

    Development and Continuous Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to enhance CNC programming techniques, including software models, tool paths, and material utilization.
    • Contribute to team discussions on product design and process improvement during regular production meetings.
    • Perform other related duties as required, aligned with skills and experience.

    Selection Criteria for Candidates

    Essential Criteria

    • At least 3 years of experience as a CNC Programmer.
    • Proficient in Cabinet Vision software, including design and nesting features.
    • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • Proven understanding of project management principles, including safety, quality, and risk management.
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with WHS (Work Health and Safety) practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
    • Expertise in interpreting technical drawings and documentation.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Completion of Year 12 and/or a relevant tertiary qualification.
    • Hands-on experience in cabinetry or manufacturing production settings.
