    Emergency Management

    Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.

    The Business Unit

    Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state and regional coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger.

    The Natural Disaster Financial Assistance (NDFA) team is responsible for the administration and assessment of Victoria's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). The NDFA team also prepares the DRFA acquittal on behalf of the State of Victoria across all the DRFA financial assistance measures including the assurance and audits activities. The team works collaboratively across the sector to identify and implement process improvements to the DRFA to ensure the efficiency and adherence to the requirements.

    About the Role

    The Senior Policy role within ERV will lead the Commonwealth's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) reform agenda and other reviews. This will involve working with a range of stakeholders across the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments and Local Government Authorities. In addition the role will lead and facilitate a number of continuous improvement projects.

    About You

    As our ideal candidate you will have:

    • Broad knowledge of Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (or similar arrangements) and experience in dealing with Commonwealth arrangements and negotiations.
    • Demonstrated skills in mapping end to end processes along with identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • A strong understanding of government policy, processes and governance.
