  • Construction is now well underway for our new Moorebank NDC (MoNDC). Located in Moorebank NSW, MoNDC is the latest distribution centre being added to the Primary Connect Network. The 44,900 sqm facility - equivalent to almost three times the size of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This will strengthen Primary Connect's national supply chain and service more than 1,000 Woolworths Supermarkets across Australia with more than 12,000 product lines.

    About the opportunity

    As a vital member of the Moorebank team, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a large scale, fast paced, state of the art automated order processing facility. With end-to-end responsibility including functionality, reliability, system performance and improvement, you will be part of a team of technical specialists and vendor partners looking to cultivate a culture of teamwork, inclusion and high performance.

    The role will support the operational teams to provide supplier management services. This will be aimed at improving system performance and uptime metrics in support of our customer and store service ambitions. The purpose will be to develop productive relationships with the automation provider and to implement continuous improvements in the automation.

    You will:

  • Support operations at a site level through partnership to enable the ongoing improvement of existing performance and the development of localised optimisation strategies.
  • Ensuring that automation (storage and order processing equipment) is performing in line with functional outcomes, capabilities, and throughput/capacity requirements, including developing system performance metrics.
  • Participating in system testing, DILOS, operational readiness, and commissioning activities
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives through the leadership of supplier relationships, improved operational practices, and, where appropriate, business process changes that enhance safety, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Implementing ongoing planning and budgeting processes to ensure the automation equipment continues to meet the business's required throughput, efficiency, capacity, and functional outcomes year on year.
  • Leading a team of technical specialists, and guiding the operations team in the optimal setup and technical aspects the operational
  • Liaising with internal and external technical stakeholders in the ongoing optimisation and enhancement of the processing equipment, control systems and system functionality.
  • Developing and documenting complex work instructions, SOPs, and processes.
  • About you

    We are seeking a results-driven automation and optimisation professional who is dedicated to safety, teamwork, and supply chain excellence. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in leading technical / reliability / engineering teams and functions in large scale order fulfilment, manufacturing or continuous processing environment, or similar.

    You should also have the following skills and attributes:

  • Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma CI
  • Working knowledge of PLC ability to interpret but not required to recode
  • Operational experience in supply chain processes
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and own cost/quality improvement project end to end
  • Exposure to automation systems and suppliers, Vanderlande, Dematic, Schaeffer, Swisslog, Knapp or Witron
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation and with suppliers
  • Service performance analysis and identification of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experienced at leading and implementing change & continuous improvement
  • Extensive experience in either FMCG, Distribution, manufacturing or retail industries
  • Experience in tactical and operational planning in a complex environment preferred
