    Description

    The Mersey Community Hospital are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (Hepatology) to join their team, providing exceptional care and education to patients and families affected by liver disease.

    The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Hepatology, in consultation with the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Consultant, leads the day-to-day management of nursing activities and education to achieve continuity and quality of Hepatology patient care at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).

    Within a multidisciplinary team, the CNS - Hepatology will:

    • Provide patient care in conjunction with other members of the specialised health care team.
    • Provide nursing expertise, case coordination, nursing management and education for patients with liver disease and their families.
    • Initiate, develop and implement clinical policy, care guidelines, quality improvement and research in accordance with contemporary best practices and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team.

    The Hospital:

    Located in Latrobe, the Mersey Community Hospital offers general and specialist health services including 24 hour emergency department, general medicine day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics. Mersey Community hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.

    Latrobe has all the modern amenities and offers an affordable lifestyle with fantastic properties in idyllic locations. It is never too far to prime organic produce, true farmers' markets, a multitude of food festivals, national parks, mountain biking trails and so much more. Our dual carriage way, the Bass Highway connects Latrobe to Devonport and Burnie (10 and/or 40 minutes away) which offer city conveniences. The bustling city of Launceston is only an hour away from Latrobe. You are close to everything and "traffic jam" is not a common term in Tasmania. Daylight saving and short travel distances allow for a better work life balance.

    Details of Appointment

    Permanent part time, day worker position working 15.2 hours per fortnight

    *notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

    • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

    Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

    • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

    You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

    In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

    • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

    Eligibility:

    Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

    1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

    Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

    1. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse
    2. Relevant postgraduate qualifications

    The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‐employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
