    A little bit about the role
    The Team Leader Asset Protection Enforcement is an exciting new position created to lead our experienced team of 6 Asset Protection Enforcement Officers.

    This role is a development opportunity for an existing leader with an enforcement or regulatory background that have great interpersonal skills and leadership traits and are willing to learn about the building industry.

    We work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where our purpose is to work along-side the building industry to ensure community development is safe and in line with the Local Law.

    Reporting to the Coordinator Asset Protection & Permits, the key aspects of the role include:

    • Providing Leadership, mentoring and direction to the Asset Protection Enforcement Team.
    • Undertaking inspections of work sites to ensure compliance with Council's Local Law and permits, Road Management Act, Environmental Protection Act, Planning and Environment Act and other relevant legislation.
    • Undertaking proactive patrols to detect illegal activities being undertaken on Council land.
    • Lead the building of new team processes, policies, and procedures.
    • Forging constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and where necessary consulting with Council Officers with regards to resolution of technical matters leading to positive outcomes.

    • The ability to lead teams and provide mentoring, coaching and development. Manage staff rosters and allocate work to achieve Key Performance Indicators of the team.
    • The ability to manage a high workload, organise and obtain compliance with a variety of tasks despite conflicting priorities, with minimal supervision.
    • A proven record of, or the ability to obtain compliance with the relevant legislation and to instigate appropriate legal action when required in relation to construction activities including the ability to interpret approved plans and drawings, whilst displaying strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
    • A proven record of, or the ability to conduct investigations, instigate appropriate enforcement action, conduct interviews, and prepare briefs of evidence and present same in Court of law.
    • A Certificate IV in Government Compliance, Diploma in Justice or equivalent and/or relevant experience in the relevant field of Local Law will be highly regarded.
