    Applications are invited for a fulltime, ongoing position of an Electorate Officer B, Media Assistant and Digital Adviser in Senator Malarndirri McCarthy's Electorate Office based in Darwin, Northern Territory.

    KEY OBJECTIVE

    We are seeking a talented content creator to join the team in Senator McCarthy's Electorate office. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing engaging content for the Senator's website and various digital platforms. They will provide support and advice across communications and media activity. There will be opportunities for travel within the NT and to parliament house in Canberra.

    DUTIES

    • Developing and executing Senator McCarthy's social media strategy.
    • Creating content including graphics, photos and videos for the Senator's website and social media platforms that convey her priorities for the Territory.
    • Capture impactful moments and candid shots during events, public appearances, and official functions.
    • Support the evaluation of digital communication and engagement and identify trends to drive engagement and reach.
    • Monitoring news media and social media.
    • Assist the broader electorate office team and provide logistical support as required.
    • Provide input into forward planning as required.
    • Perform other reasonable duties as required.

    KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

    • Demonstrated digital media skills including photography, video editing, graphic design and social media planning and placement.
    • Ability to work to a deadline and manage multiple projects.
    • Good written communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
    • Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
    • An understanding and genuine interest in Indigenous affairs, the Northern Territory, and Australian politics.

    EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

    The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Membersof Parliament Staff EnterpriseAgreement which include:

    • A commencing salary between $71,245 and $83,179will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
    • An additional Electorate Staff Allowance of up to $17,208 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
    • Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
    • An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

    An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.

    The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
