    Job DescriptionJoin our dynamic team based in Alexandria, NSW, on a full-time basis, where you'll play a pivotal role in supporting SGS's mission to analyze soil, water, and air.

    As a valued team member, you will collaborate closely with management to uphold SGS's analytical capabilities, specifically focusing on conducting routine analyses within the Hygiene section.

    Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

    With minimal supervision and a degree of independence, initiative and judgment, undertake routine preparation and analysis of soil and water samples.

    Perform asbestos fibre counting and asbestos identification on a range of materials including building materials, soil, water and dust samples.

    Perform onsite sampling as required by the client.
    Become an authorised signatory for Fibre counting and Fibre identification.
    Participate in external and internal proficiency testing as required by the business.
    Carry out scheduled instrument calibration and maintenance in accordance with documented procedures.
    Understand and uphold general laboratory QA/QC criteria and NATAaccreditation requirements and ensure the quality of data procedure.
    Maintain and update skills, qualifications and knowledge through courses and on the job training to support improvement.
    Develop and validate new analytical methods and instrumentation as required by the business.
    Perform other duties as directed by the section supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the section.
    QualificationsDemonstrable experience in an environmental laboratory, specifically Asbestos analyst.
    Previous NATA signatory status in asbestos identification preferred.
    Flexibility with working hours and tasks.
    Some weekend work and overtime required from time to time.
