    The role

    MinRes' Advisor, Heritage Approvals is responsible for supporting MinRes's heritage approval and compliance activities across the [Goldfields, West Pilbara, Central Pilbara] region to ensure continuity of operating mines and achieve greenfield development project schedules in accordance with regulatory and agreement requirements.

    Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Heritage Approvals, this role will assist with the planning of heritage surveys and heritage management activity, and has a pivotal role in developing and maintaining strong and mutually respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, and Traditional Owner representative to facilitate this work.

    A key component of this role will support the development and coordination of MinRes' heritage management systems. This includes the review of spatial and cultural information from MinRes field teams, external heritage consultants, and the periodic audit of the information to ensure an comprehensive and accurate database.

    This position is responsible for supporting MinRes' Land Activity Permit system tasks in relation to cultural heritage protection and management, and activities, monitoring and reporting associated with MinRes' Cultural Heritage Management Plans and community engagement strategies.

    Key deliverables:

    • Provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders about cultural heritage planning and management to ensure that MinRes activities comply with relevant legislative and contractual requirements.
    • Coordinate and represent MinRes on cultural heritage surveys and in key Traditional Owner meetings.
    • Support the heritage team to review and update governance documents and systems, and assist with any legislative and regulatory transitions.
    • Plan and coordinate safe working practices of field based activities.
    • Support the scheduling, scoping, delivery and reporting of Traditional Owner consultation, heritage surveys, and field activities.
    • Coordinate heritage consultant, heritage monitor, and heritage survey participant engagement, logistics, payments, and onboarding.
    • Assist to plan and draft heritage approval documentation.
    • Assist to review and implement and audit Land Activity Permits and their heritage conditions.
    • Assist to coordinate cultural heritage protection and management activities associated with ground disturbance, including Traditional Owner participation

    What you'll bring to the team:

    • Tertiary qualification in Archaeology, Anthropology, Land Management or equivalent demonstrated cultural heritage management experience, preferably in a regulatory compliance capacity
    • Knowledge of relevant WA and commonwealth cultural heritage legislation and regulatory requirements in a mining context.
    • Experience in a heritage related role or similar (eg. Environment, or land access etc) in the field and / or corporate setting.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and complex environment, with a problem-solving mind-set.
    • Ability to communicate confidently, with strong cross-cultural communication skills, and ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work in corporate and a field environment with physical demands and challenging physical environment.
    • Computer and reporting skills, preferably with exposure to incident management systems and regulatory compliance reporting.
    • Knowledge of, or ability to obtain, GIS skills including use of ArcGIS and handheld GPS devices
    • Current drivers licence, with ability to operate a 4WD. Current first aid skills.
