About the RoleThis position has prime accountability for maintaining standards, accountability, and compliance in a range of areas:
To ensure that capital and building development in schools is in alignment with Diocesan and parish objectives and is planned, appropriately approved, implemented, and reviewed.
To co-ordinate planning for new schools and educational facilities by working collaboratively with local communities, foundation principal, and CES staff.
To ensure that Education facilities within the Diocese including schools, colleges and staff housing are maintained at a high standard to ensure maximum useful life of facilities by overseeing the development of maintenance plans for each school in the Diocese of Cairns by working collaboratively with school staff and external consultants.
To maintain a focus on sustainable and energy smart schools by developing and implementing programs with schools to ensure that the operation of Education facilities achieves the maximum level of energy performance possible.
To keep the Central Office up to date on changing and emerging requirements with respect to capital and planning.In response to enrolment demand, demographic studies and strategic direction co-ordinate and manage the purchase (and sale of existing land) for existing and future educational facilities.
Represent Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns on state committees and working parties establish to manage and distribute capital grants.Gain and maintain knowledge on current trends in educational facilities by participating in industry groups and professional bodies.
These activities will be undertaken in response to policy direction from the Board of Governance (through the Executive Director), and in alignment with the strategic plan of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns.
