    About the Position:

    The SEWB Youth Worker at DAHS plays a vital role in providing social and emotional wellbeing support to Aboriginal community members in Derby. Funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, this position requires a deep understanding of SEWB, especially within the context of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.

    The SEWB Worker will also support and deliver activities which promote education, prevention and early intervention to help strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' social and emotional wellbeing. The role will also assist community members through case management, advocacy, brief interventions and referrals to relevant organisations.

    About the Organisation:

    Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provides a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services.

    About You

    To be considered for the position, you must meet the following criteria:

    Essential:

    1. Aboriginality is an essential criteria in accordance with section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
    2. Experience working with roles that support Aboriginal people's mental health, SEWB and/or health.
    3. Understanding or experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
    4. Experience in the delivery of programs and activities for Aboriginal people in a group setting.
    5. Experience in providing case management and advocacy for Aboriginal clients.
    6. Proven ability to solve problems by analysing issues, identifying options, and selecting the most appropriate solution.
    7. Effective organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities.
    8. National Police Clearance.
