    About the Role

    Based in the Brisbane office and reporting to the Legal Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of legal advice and support is provided to support GLNG OPL's activities, operations and interests.
  • This opportunity is offered as a 12-month Max-term contract.
  • Between 1 July 2024 and 30 November 2024 this position will step up as Acting-Legal Manager.
  • Key accountabilities include:
  • Provide hands-on support to GLNG OPL's downstream operations to ensure that all licenses, permits, easements and other regulatory requirements are updated and in place.
  • Support the procurement function by reviewing and negotiating all contracts.
  • Support Business Development activities with legal advice on regulatory compliance.
  • Manage advice from external legal providers on subject specific matters such as competition, access and EHS.
  • Provide fast paced and effective support to commercial functions regarding gas sale and purchase transactions.
  • Maintain awareness of changes in law and monitor risk exposures.
  • Ensure that all legal work undertaken by approved external advisors is provided under a clear and concise brief, within the requisite time, to the highest standard and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure that value adding legal input is provided to all operational, business and strategic initiatives within your area of operation and wherever possible ensure the timely and satisfactory resolution, of all outstanding litigation and threatened claims and prosecutions within the area of your responsibility.
  • Assist in the training, development and mentoring of team members.
  • About You We are looking for a qualified Senior Corporate Lawyer to apply strategic thinking and provide comprehensive and accurate legal support to GLNG OPL's operations. Your ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, challenge constructively and influence people is key, along with:
  • Extensive post-admission experience including knowledge of corporate law principles, regulations, and best practices within the resources industry - preferably within oil and gas.
  • Experience supporting sales and purchasing agreements, managing complex corporate transactions, and providing strategic legal advice to senior management.
  • Demonstratable experience coaching, mentoring and guiding others.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills allowing you to engage effectively with stakeholders at varying levels.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • A Degree of Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (or similar post graduate qualification) and admission to practice in the Supreme Court of QLD (and current Practicing Certificate) is required.
