- Undertaking a leadership role in curriculum development and enhancement of teaching and learning activities relevant to Psychiatry, as well as delivery of teaching at St Vincent's Hospital and the University, including Back to Base days.
- Conducting a weekly teaching ward round or equivalent with the students.
- Conducting regular formative assessments, including provision of feedback on student performance.
- Providing Clinical Skills Training sessions on Psychiatry.
- Attending Discipline meetings as necessary to contribute to the governance, management and leadership of School.
- Developing and participating in assessment and evaluation activities throughout the academic year including OSCEs.
- Supporting research activities in conjunction with other staff in line with the school research strategy; and other duties as directed by the Head of Psychiatry or the Head of Clinical School.
- Ensuring significant external engagement with the community and discipline/profession.
- Contributing to the professional development of other staff, evidenced through ongoing leadership in peer review and mentorship.
- Maintaining a record of excellence in teaching
- Possession of a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing
- Hold a Fellowship in Psychiatry.
- Demonstrable academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to teaching and/or research and/or the profession.
- A relevant clinical appointment with St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst
- In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard is had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or contributions to technical achievement.
- Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students
- A high level of interest in medical education
- Ensures safe working environments are provided for students, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors.
- Models compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, policies, procedures and instructions.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Discipline Lead, Psychiatry will provide effective and efficient support to the Head of Discipline, Psychiatry and Head of the Sydney Clinical School to ensure a high quality learning experience for UNDA MD Program students undertaking their Psychiatry rotations.
The Discipline Lead will work in collaboration with academic and professional administrative colleagues, including the Clinical Placements Coordinator and the Medical Education Unit.
