    Accountant

    Job Description

    A trusted finance partner and principal member of the finance team. Support finance team to lead company accounting, financial planning and provide analytical support to the plant.

    Key Responsibilities

  • A trusted finance partner and member of the plant team in all areas, driving process and cost discipline, efficiencies, and providing finance and economic analysis and support.
  • Accurate and timely month-end closing, including execution of plant accounting and internal control procedures.
  • Be the finance business partner and support cost center owners on review monthly spend and managing the cost against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Resolve accounts payable issues and ensure our vendors are paid within terms. Escalate problems and improve the processes.
  • Collaborating with capital finance on implement CAPEX vs OPEX policy and ensure the accuracy of accounting
  • Assist in special projects and information requests, ad hoc financial planning, and analytics
  • Support the internal audit, legal, and tax functional areas for accounting related issues.
  • Support controlling manager to ensure effectiveness of internal / SOX controls and coordinate internal auditing at plant level.
  • Provide proper documentation and backup material for journal entries in accordance with our internal standards.
  • Identify needed areas of improvement and escalate issues.
  • Review accounting transactions to ensure compliance with government requirements and Albemarle Accounting and Internal Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Australian finance and operational team to meet departmental goals efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with financial analysis, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting in a manufacturing company.
  • Experience with SAP systems at a multinational company.
  • Some familiarity with financial accounting within an advanced SAP system required.
  • High level accounting and US GAAP knowledge.
  • Experience in identifying process flows and optimization.
  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrating global collaboration across cultures and meeting/exceeding expectations working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team that includes multiple functional areas across the globe.
  • Highest standards of accuracy, precision, organization and attention to detail.
  • Breadth and capacity to take on other finance roles over time.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Education / Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, or Accounting is required.
  • Chartered Accountant or similar certification a plus.
