    Advisor, Senior Environment

    We are seeking an Advisor, Senior Environment to join the Transmission Gully Project team on a six month fixed term contract. You will be responsible for the overall environmental monitoring associated with this significant 27km highway.

    The Project

    Wellington Gateway Partnership (WGP) has selected a Joint Venture between CPB Contractors and HEB Construction (CPB HEB JV) to undertake the design and construction of the Transmission Gully Project Works.

    The TG Project involves the construction of a new highway through challenging terrain that will require approximately 6 million cubic metres of earthworks, significant stream diversions and vegetation clearing. The Project works include 27 kilometres of 4-lane motorway in a single road corridor, 3 grade-separated interchanges, 2 grade-separated connections, and 28 separate bridge and underpass structures.

    The project is in the closing out phase of completing a number of ancillary road networks, spoil site restoration, fish passages & stream works and is envisaged to take a further 12 to 18 months to complete.

    Responsibilities include (although not limited to)

  • Implementation of the project monitoring programme
  • Review and reporting of monitoring data
  • Evaluation of environmental performance and recommendation of improvements
  • Ensuring environmental compliance through site inspections, and monitoring of environmental controls
  • Providing advice and recommendations to improve compliance and decrease environmental risk
  • Mentoring of junior team members
  • Liaison with local and regional councils
  • The ideal applicant will have;

  • Minimum 10 years relevant work experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Solid experience in Project Management, Environmental Management and Stakeholder management
  • Broad knowledge in environmental management methods and techniques (, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), environmental aspect/impact evaluation, life cycle assessment, environmental performance evaluation)
  • Broad knowledge of environmental science and technology: fundamental relationships between human activities and the environment including ecosystems, general environmental protection, management of fossil fuels, water, flora and fauna, other natural resources, waste, air and noise
  • Comprehension of the technical and environmental aspects of operations (treatment of waste, waste management, emissions, prevention of pollution).
