The Opportunity

This exciting role is to work in a cross-functional agile team, providing the necessary ongoing development, support and improvement of our client's software applications in a continuous delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Software Developer will be responsible for application development, design, and support while following relevant quality procedures to deliver quality products and services.

You will also identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement, and undertake additional quality responsibilities (e.g. audit) when appropriately trained to undertake these responsibilities. You will contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables.

The role:
As a Software developer, you will take on a multiple role as part of the cross-skill team.
70% of the time, you will work on the code, maintaining and extending the current existing React SaaS application. Technologies include ReactJS, GraphQL, AJAX, ExpressJS, jQuery, Functional programming, Handlebars, CSS3, SASS, LESS, HTML5.

The other 30%:
If it is a Frontend feature, you can be the Feature Owner.

You need to collaborate with the Product Owner, UX, Backend Devs from other squad and Testers to ensure the feature is delivered end-to-end.

Including:

Organise meeting to bring people together to discuss, explore, refine and break down the feature into smaller shippable chunks of work.

Document the feature, drawing graphs, note down initial discoveries and any technical constraint in Confluence for reference. Assist testers in developing test scenarios.

Establish the expectation with the team and the Product Owner about the plan of attack and the delivery of each small shippable chunk of work.

Troubleshoot Production incidents, including joining a team meeting with overseas customer to help discover issues on their end.

Participating in Scrum activities including:
daily stand-up, backlog refinement and planning, sprint review and retro.
Assist the Production deployment and formal testing activities, if needed.
About you

Programming skill:
Commercial experience in React, GraphQL, AJAX, ExpressJS, jQuery, Functional programming, Handlebars, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, LESS.

Knowledge:
Good understanding of the Flux unidirectional data flow architecture in the Front-end world and the MVC architecture in the Backend world
Some understanding about frontend security and performance optimisation

Thinking & Communication:
Be able to communicate the pros and cons of any implementation.
Be able to break down a feature into smaller shippable chunks.
Be able to communicate with the team about how those chunks should be developed and delivered end to end.

Be able to draw diagrams or put together any form of informal documentation to communicate: 1/ WHAT does the feature do, and 2/ HOW the feature is implemented across systems.

Key Requirements
Strong commercial knowledge of back end programming languages – Java / .Net
Integration experience with microservices and RESTful architectures
Strong understanding of software design and programming principles
Strong analytical thinking and problem solving capability
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Node JS
HTML5, CSS3
REST API's
Understanding of general development and operations skills (CI CD, test automation, etc)
Git version control
