    The Business Improvement & Quality Assurance Branch sits under the newly formed Claim Process Improvement Division, and is focused on evidenced-based continuous improvement to ensure our clients receive streamlined and accurate decisions in respect to their compensation claims. The Branch also supports efficiency improvements to the delivery of benefits and payments to enhance the client service experience.

    We are seeking Review Support Officers to provide administrative support to both the Veterans' Review Board (VRB) and Review Officers to ensure accurate documentation required for the review process, and Directions provided by the VRB are delivered within relevant timeframes.

    Duties

    • Facilitate the collation and provision of appeal documentation to veterans and the Veterans' Review Board to assist with ongoing appeal matters;
    • Register Applications for Review and Reconsideration
    • Facilitate the timely and accurate maintenance of appeal case files, including a range of record keeping and reporting;
    • Action Directions from the VRB in respect of additional information required to progress the review process. This includes arranging medical appointments, preparing appropriate documentation and gathering medical and other information from stakeholders.
    • Undertake quality control checks on appeal documentation to ensure it is compliant with relevant legislation e.g. ensuring documentation adheres to privacy legislation and principles.
    • Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders involved in the review and appeal process.
    • Undertake a range of other administrative tasks and project as directed to support DVA and the VRB with ongoing appeal matters.

    Eligibility

    • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
    • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

    Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

    A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

    Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
