    The successful applicant will join the Child, Youth and Family Services Department in the Community Services Division. This key role sits in the Early Years and Family Services Team and will support established, excellent relationships with families as well as high-quality Early Years providers.

    About the Position

    Using a strength based, customer focused approach, work in conjunction with the Coordinator Early Years & Family Services to liaise with early years services in the municipality and undertake duties related to the support provided by Council to these services.

    This role provides families with young children support to access a kindergarten Central Registration and Enrolment process that provides them with a choice of local kindergartens for both three- and four-year-old children.

    Skills and Experience

    • Understanding of the early childhood sector, particularly funded kindergarten
    • Community development skills, including strength based and customer centered approaches and an ability to network with early years services and the community
    • Knowledge of issues relating to kindergartens and early childhood services, particularly in relation to current legislation and inclusive practices.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Education & Care Services National Law Act 2010 and Education & Care Services Regulations 2011, and the ACECQA assessment & rating system relevant to early childhood services
    • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Framework and best practice principles as outlined in Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework and National Early Years Learning Framework
    • Highly developed administration and analytical skills

    Requirements

    • A tertiary qualification relating to early childhood development and/or education
    • Experience in the provision of services to children and families
    • Experience in customer services including dealing with people of diverse backgrounds, including those from CALD backgrounds and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, and families with a child with a disability
    • Experience in project work within a local government or similar environment
    • Experience of working independently
    • Knowledge of, and experience, using computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and digital forms/surveys
    • Experience in the use of data bases
    • Current Victorian driver's license
