    Description

    The Role

    The Health Clerk performs key administrative and support tasks. This customer facing position requires a person with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

    The Health Clerk supports a team of health professionals and ADF staff to ensure a range of Defence health outcomes are achieved.

    As the first point of contact in the health centre, the Health Clerk is required to manage inquiries, book medical appointments and follow up on the progress of personnel care plans.

    The Health Clerk is required to process incoming reports and maintain electronic records using Defence databases in accordance policies and procedures.

    The successful candidate will have experience managing priorities and will support surges in health centre operational requirements. The Health Clerk will work collaboratively with health professionals and ADF staff to provide care for our people.

    The Health Clerk position sits within Joint Health Command.

    Through the delivery of reliable, resilient, affordable and best practice health services, Joint Health Command enables a healthy, ready, and supported Defence Force.

    In addition, we partner with the Navy, Army and Air Force to ensure that the Australian Defence Forces' deployable health force is equipped and skilled to provide health care in a variety of settings.


    Joint Health Command has an integrated workforce of Defence members, civilians, contractors and professional health providers.

    We manage around one million patient health service interactions with Defence members each year through health units in Australia and overseas.

    Our Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Experience supporting a large team, preferably in a health care setting is advantageous but not essential. They have the ability to confidently deliver information and advice to a range of stakeholders in a professional manner. They will be required to work as part of a team, be task focused and able to prioritize with consideration of operational requirements. They will be proficient using Microsoft applications and have experience using databases.

    The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining electronic health records and is confident using databases to extract information for reporting purposes.

    Previous experience working in a high tempo team environment and adhering to policies and procedures would be beneficial. The ideal candidate is an inquisitive team member who has passion for healthcare and customer service.
