II&E offers fascinating work on issues that matter and prides itself on its culture. The content is diverse, the work is fast and meaningful, and the people are great. We work together to solve problems, strive to make a difference, lean into tough issues, focus on what matters most, and respect and support each other. We liaise closely across Commonwealth agencies and with others, working together to get things done.

EL1 Advisers play a leading role in the analysis and advice teams develop and provide to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on policy development and program delivery. II&E works in the centre of government decision-making, providing advice to support Commonwealth Budget and Cabinet processes, legislation, and other Parliamentary processes.
