    Lived Experience Inclusion Lead

  • This job is only available to people with lived experience of intellectual disability. This means the person must have an intellectual disability.
  • This is a part-time job for 17.5 hours each week. Part-time means that the person works less than 35 hours a week.
  • This is a fixed term job for 2 years. Fixed term means that the job is only for a set amount of time.
  • The annual salary for this job is $53,175.50 An annual salary is how much a person is paid in 1 year.
  • The Superannuation contribution for this job is 17% of the annual salary. A Superannuation contribution is extra money that a person gets for their Superannuation account.
  • The Centre is a part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW.
  • The Centre is located at the UNSW campus in Kensington, Sydney.
  • About the job and the Centre

    The Lived Experience Inclusion Lead (Inclusion Lead) will be:

  • A leader in inclusive practice
  • A mentor for people with intellectual disability at the Centre
  • The Centre works closely with a group of other organisations called a consortium . These consortium members are:

  • The New South Wales Council for Intellectual Disability (CID)
  • Down Syndrome Australia (DSA)
  • Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN)
  • First Peoples Disability Network (FPDN)
  • Centre for Disability Studies (CDS)
  • Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service and Mater Misericordiae (MIDAS)
  • University of Melbourne (UoM)
  • Telethon Kids Institute (TKI)
  • The Centre will co-design ways to improve the health of people with intellectual disability.

    The Inclusion Lead will:

  • Work with the Inclusion Manager to make sure that people with intellectual disability are leading work the Centre does.
  • Be a representative for the Centre, and will talk to communities, organisations and governments about the work the Centre does.
  • Work with the Consortium members, and other organisations, who are based all over Australia. The Inclusion Lead will sometimes need to travel to other places in Australia.
  • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the manager of the Inclusion Lead. The Inclusion Lead does not manage any staff.

    The Inclusion Lead should have:

  • Lived experience of intellectual disability
  • Experience in co-design with people with intellectual disability.
  • A passion for improving healthcare for people with intellectual disability
  • Strong skills in mentoring people with intellectual disability
  • Confidence to do presentations and have discussions as a part of a large group.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
