    About the Role

    We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our team as an Inspector Scientific Officer. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity within our WorkSafe Service Industries and Specialists branch, located at Cannington.

    As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that workplaces are safe and healthy for workers. You will be responsible for carrying out workplace inspections, enforcing health and safety laws, and providing expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.

    You will work closely with our team to promote and deliver work health and safety presentations, provide information to workplaces, and gather evidence to support prosecutions. Your strong investigative skills and experience in regulatory, safety or general industry will be essential in this role.

    About the Position

    This role requires a high level of expertise in occupational hygiene and asbestos, as well as excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be responsible for gathering and interpreting data, appraising evidence and evaluating arguments.

    You must have a Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent qualification relevant to occupational hygiene and/or asbestos, and experience in applying occupational hygiene and WHS knowledge in a workplace setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Carry out workplace inspections and take appropriate enforcement actions when health and safety laws are breached;
    • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents or accidents;
    • Assess any possible breaches of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 or equivalent relevant legislation;
    • Gather evidence and prepare briefs to legal, making recommendations about prosecutions and presenting evidence in court;
    • Promote and deliver work health and safety presentations, providing information to workplaces;
