    We are seeking a Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team in Sydney. This role will play a vital part in assisting with audits, preparing reports, conducting safety inspections, training staff, and identifying areas for improvement.

    Job Description

    The successful candidate will support our safety and compliance team in ensuring that all transport operations are carried out in accordance with industry standards, legislation, and company policies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in the transport and logistics sector while making a real impact on the safety and compliance practices within the company.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Regulatory Compliance:
      • Support with compliance on all relevant transport regulations (e.g., road safety laws, environmental standards).
      • Assist in maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations for transport and logistics operations.
      • Manage documentation relating to compliance requirements (audits, investigations, certifications).
    • Auditing:
      • Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
      • Prepare and maintain safety documentation and reports for internal and external audits.
      • Maintain and update safety and compliance records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audits and inspections.
    • Stakeholder Engagement:
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety and compliance best practices.
      • Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies, insurers, and safety consultants.
      • Build relationships with staff and supply chain partners to foster open dialogue on safety and compliance consultation.
    • Reporting & Analysis:
      • Provide regular safety performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
      • Analyse incident data and generate reports to identify hazards, trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
      • Maintain safety-related records, including compliance documentation, incident reports, and safety audits.
    • Training Support:
      • Lead the safety and compliance training programs for staff, ensuring understanding of responsibilities and obligations.
      • Support the investigation of safety incidents, accidents, or near-misses, contributing to corrective actions and preventive measures.
      • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety trends.
      • Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety systems and compliance processes.

      Requirements:

      • Education: Understanding of current WHS act and WHS regulations.
      • Experience: Knowledge around conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
      • Computer Skills: Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
      • Commitment to Safety: Demonstrated commitment to safety.
      • Multi-tasking and Pressure: Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
      • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously.
