    About the Opportunity

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead/Senior Engineer will provide engineering advice and support to disciplines within and outside of Design and Engineering Departments. This role will ensure that technical decisions made are safe, technically correct and represent value for money for the implementations on board the Collins Class Submarine. This role will also act as a lead for specific projects and may provide leadership to a small team with a focus on delivery and quality.

    To be considered for this permanent full time opportunity it is important that one must have previous exposure to delivering the following accountabilities:

  • Previous experience performing Engineering Domain Authority
  • Proven ability to perform a project lead related role on small multi-discipline tasks
  • Preparation of technical reports and other engineering documentation with minimum supervision
  • Proven ability to achieve progress against agreed deliverables and timeframes
  • The ability to delegate and provide technical direction to project teams
  • Proven experience in liaising with external and internal customers in relation to issues related to assigned work
  • Proven ability to manage labour and material resources in line with approved schedules

    • About you

    The preferred candidate will be an effective leader and have solid written and oral communication skills, coupled with sound knowledge on inter-discipline requirements and dependencies. Experience with resolving technical problems in a design, manufacturing, maintenance and or production environment is also important, as well as the ability to implement strategies to recover tasks that don't meet the budget and schedule requirements. To be considered for this role, an Engineering Degree qualification or higher in a related field such as Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering must be completed. Exposure to one or more of the following areas; Systems Engineering, Marine/ Industrial Diesel Design and or Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics will be highly regarded.
