Job Description

SGS is seeking a Chemist to join the team in Townsville.

Responsibilities include however, not limited to:

• Calibrations and introduction of new methods with a component of R&D
• Perform chemical analysis using laboratory instrumentation such as ICP MS and ICP OES
• Ensure all employees are inducted and trained within areas of responsibility.
• Trouble shooting to solve production/instrument issues.
• Continuous improvement of productivity and efficiency of laboratory operations.
• Improve and maximise efficiency of new and ongoing procedures in the laboratory to increase profit and satisfaction for the company as well as the customer.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• BSc (chemistry) or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years experience in laboratory operations
• ICP OES experience; ability to learn ICP MS
• Strong Understanding of sample preparation procedures for analyses performed in the area of responsibility
• Sound Understanding of general laboratory techniques
• Familiarity with CCLAS EL LIMS
