    We are seeking a Principal Policy Officer to join our Strategy, Investment and Performance team with Biosecurity Queensland. You will take a lead role in briefing processes for parliamentary questions, Budget Estimates hearings and a broad range of policy initiatives, emerging and complex issues and legislative proposals

    As our Principal Policy Officer, you will:

    • Lead the review, analysis and improvement of the briefing processes for Possible Parliamentary Questions, Budget Estimates hearings and the incoming government, including but not limited to the coordination of cross program briefs, crafting a cohesive narrative, sourcing outcome driven content, document and version control and contributing to the management of information accuracy.
    • Lead or contribute to the preparation and development of high-level advice, responses, plans, reports, estimate documents, policy documents, briefing notes and other departmental correspondence, under the general direction of the Manager, Policy and in accordance with departmental requirements.
    • Lead the analysis of policy options addressing either critical issues or endemic problems.
    • Contribute substantively to the drafting of appropriate policy documents, frameworks, and options to support the organisation's policy position.
    • Design, implement and review communication and stakeholder engagement plans and processes
    • Engage and collaborate with a range of relevant policy stakeholders across all stages of the policy development, implementation and review process to facilitate effective consultation and communication and to support, and where required, advocate, the organisation's policy position.
    • Review existing policy and contribute to the drafting of new policy recommendations and proposals aligned to government priorities.
    • Incorporate feedback from stakeholder consultation into the development of policy recommendations, instruments and solutions.
    • Provide specialised and appropriately modulated advice to managers and staff on complex policy matters.
    • Synthesise complex information and evidence into well-considered reports, submissions and recommendation.
