    The Role
    An APS6 ILS Officer (Acquisition) is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex materiel logistics activities whilst working within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives.
    The APS6 ILS Officer will set priorities, monitor workflow, resources and exercise associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes.

    You will work in a diverse environment requiring a number of key skills to undertake the following tasks:

    • Provide assurance on contracted Integrated Logistics Support deliverables.
    • Provide Integrated Logistics Support management under legislative frameworks.
    • Coordinate stores movement
    • Use of Defence inventory system and information databases.
    • Review and updating Project Office logistics plans
    • Stakeholder management to identify expectations and develop an understanding of the methodology and practices to achieve outcomes.
    • Evaluate materiel logistics activities to ensure alignment with project objectives.

    Submarines are a unique Defence capability and play an essential role in supporting Australia's maritime security, and your work within the program by engaging Navy and industry partners, will ensure that Navy has an enduring and potent submarine capability for generations to come. The Combat Systems branch of the Collins Class submarines (CCSM) program manages a range of systems, such as Communications, Electronic Warfare, Combat systems and sonar to maintain the capability edge of the CCSM, across the six submarines.     The Team comprises engineers, project managers and logisticians. The APS 6 ILS Officer reports to an EL1 ILS Manager. As an APS 6 ILS Officer within the Combat System Program, you will be part of a supportive and cooperative team working alongside other talented colleagues.

    • Experience providing Integrated Logistics Support under legislative frameworks or equivalent experience,
    • Demonstrated ability to establish plans and timeframes and be able to respond positively to change and uncertainty,
    • An Innovative and adaptive thinker, who will take accountability while applying a risk based and flexible approach to delivering outcomes,
    • A confident communicator, who is collaborative, agile and can effectively manage within an integrated team environment,
    • Sound commercial and business acumen.
    • Sound initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and the application of practice and procedures expert policy advice,
    • Good communication skills and proven ability to liaise with various levels of stakeholders in relation to complex issues,
    • A team leader who values teamwork and performs well in a diverse and integrated environment,
    • Desirable: Experience in supply chain or asset management, providing customer and stakeholder driven outcomes.
    • Understanding of capability lifecycle elements,
    • Understanding of the Defence Industry in Australia (desirable).
