- Assist in the preparation of purchase orders according to established procedures.
- Assist with receiving and storing food.
- Assist with inventory of foods and utensils and equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance of required CACFP Daily Menu and Food Service Record.
- Complies with all sanitation and safety codes.
- Assist with serving meals according to time schedules.
- Assist in making menu substitutions when needed following established procedures.
- Serve meals in an attractive manner.
- Wear mandated attire (white uniform, enclosed, skid-free shoes), hair net, apron, manicured, short nails (free of colored nail polish) and gloves when handling food products.
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness in the food service area.
- Compare food delivery invoices to food and supplies delivered.
- Store food and supplies properly.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, etc.
- Clean kitchen equipment.
- Store clean dishes, pots, pans, etc. according to guidelines.
- Discard unused foods that were served.
- Cover food before serving to units.
- Sweep floors.
- High school diploma and/or GED equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in preparing meals and
- Must have or be able to obtain a ServSafe Certification within 30 days of employment
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Reporting directly to the Center Manager, the Cook is responsible for the the preparation and service of meals and the implementation of the food service program in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child and Adult Care Food Program and USDA guidelines.
