    Visiting Medical Officer Position

    The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to delivering exceptional care and promoting healthier lives.

    About the Role

    This Visiting Medical Officer position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic radiology services at St George Hospital.

    As part of a 12-month trial, you will be working in an innovative reporting engine, where the bulk of image reporting will occur. You will also participate in Training, Engagement, and Governance (TEG) shifts, which include training and supervision of registrars, MDT attendance, consultation with clinical teams, quality improvement, research, and other essential functions.

    The remuneration for 'reporting engine' shifts will be fee-for-service, while TEG functions will be sessional (hourly). Participation in both aspects of the service is required.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in the reporting engine, working on ED and other examinations from 0800 to 2400 hours each day
    • Report on examinations between 12 midnight and 8am when feasible and if desired
    • Participate in TEG functions, including training and supervision of registrars, MDT attendance, consultation with clinical teams, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental on-call rosters
    • Collaborate with clinical teams to provide excellent patient care and support

    Requirements

    • Registration or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
    • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1973 and the relevant Award/Determination
    • Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
    • Proven capacity and/or experience in providing effective high-quality service in the specialty, demonstrated through successful clinical practice and participation in quality improvement activities
