    Our client is seeking to engage an APS6 Governance and Freedom of Information (FOI) Delegate.

    Location: Canberra, ACT

    Contract Length: 12 months

    Pay rate:$60.26/Hourly (excluding super)

    About the Role

    The position will perform work that involves team leadership, coordination and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team. The role will also contribute to the development of the Agency's information handling requirements.

    The APS6 Governance, Outreach and FOI Delegate (Labour Hire) will assist the team with PIA requests made to the Agency and will ensure the Agency meets its KPIs in relation to PIA requests where required.

    The role will be a delegated FOI and PIA decision maker and will make robust FOI and PIA decisions.

    The position will, under limited supervision, manage relationships with stakeholders within the Agency, Government agencies, the Ministers Office and the Office of the Information Commissioner.

    Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

    • Being a key FOI delegate responsible for FOI internal reviews and IC reviews, processing complex and sensitive FOI matters, ensuring they are created, processed, recorded and closed correctly on all databases in accordance with the FOI Act.
    • Reviewing, amending or developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, template documents and other governance documents to assist with consistent decision making within the team in consultation with other FOI and PIA delegates.
    • Coordinating and providing training in FOI and PIA within the team as well as providing outreach and training within the Agency to increase business area understanding about their responsibilities in relation to the processing of FOIs and PIAs.
    • Preparing and contributing to a range of other material including briefing material for Ministers, Board papers, media releases, reports to Parliamentary committees, and correspondence.
    • Supporting the development of systems, processes and practical tools including delivering training to support FOI and PIA handling and awareness.
    • Assisting with allocations and triage and making PIA decisions as a PIA delegate where required.
