    About the role

    This role will be supporting our Urbex division, who are innovators in residential and commercial development, undertaking wholly owned projects and joint ventures in developments of varying size and scale. With projects under development throughout Australia, and a strong track record in property development in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Darwin, Sydney and Melbourne, Urbex aspires to spread our development portfolio by creating new communities across the country.

    As the Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for the delivery of financial and commercial support for the Urbex business, and will have a strong focus on business partnering and stakeholder management. You will be fundamental in the review of existing, and creation of new development feasibility studies, in line with strategy established by the Property Development Team. Working together with Senior Development Managers, you will assist in the assessment of development opportunities and drive the creation and extraction of additional value.

    The successful applicant will:

  • Assist with project financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Financial management of the Urbex business.
  • Provide financial and commercial advice to the Urbex business.
  • Responsible for the preparation, management and updating of the detailed financial model for all projects (new and existing) including sensitivity analysis.
  • Maintain and manage an accurate cashflow forecast and report to key stakeholders on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with funding applications, funding conditions/covenants and progress drawdowns.
  • Assist with the due diligence process on new acquisitions as part of a dedicated project team through feasibility and financial analysis.
  • Satisfy the regular financial and risk reporting requirements of Urbex and the BMD Group to allow for informed decision-making for the effective performance of a portfolio of properties.
  • Co-ordinate the budgeting and forecasting process for the portfolio.
  • Function as the main point of contact for escalation of commercial and finance related issues.
  • Prepare financial statements for Joint Venture reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of management and board reports.
  • Monitor overhead allocations and reforecast if required.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets in association with the General Manager.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation of all cash reports/schedules required by BMD Treasury.

  • Experience in cashflow management
  • Experience in preparation of submissions for property financing.
  • Experience within the property sector in a commercially focused role.
  • Possesses strong commercial judgements.
  • Bachelor's degree in business (Finance/Accounting) / Commerce / Property Economics is essential.
