    About the role

    This key leadership role leads a large team across a diverse technical range of Water Reticulation and Bulk Water assets responsible for the effective and efficient operation of Council's water network. The Water section provides water collection, distribution and treatment services in accordance with Council's customer standards, policies, procedures and relevant legislation, with the objective to prevent environmental harm and to ensure public health, safety and wellbeing.

    In this role you will lead a proactive safety culture across the Water Networks team coordinating a broad range of Water operational activities, maintenance and Capital projects.

    This role will drive a positive culture to ensure that all team members are engaged, well-trained and motivated to ensure that everyone goes home safe and well. This position will also advance customer service, quality and productivity and ensure that Council complies with all environmental legislation and regulation related to Wastewater.

    About you

    To be successful in this role, tertiary level qualification/s in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and eligibility to apply for membership of Engineers Australia is desirable.

    It is also desirable for the role to have Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) registration or eligibility to satisfy the registration criteria and have a Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations or ability and willingness to obtain this qualification within two years of commencement in this position. You will also have a "C" class driver licence and a Construction Industry White Card QLD).

    You will have extensive experience in the management, operations, maintenance, construction and control of water infrastructure, and systems and experience in the management and supervision of professional, technical, operational, maintenance and administration staff. You will also have highly developed written communication, organisational, administrative and budgeting skills.

    You will have the ability to analyse and interpret engineering situations and problems to develop technical designs and solutions A high level of people management, project management and prioritisation skills is also required.
