    You will be part of First Nations Housing and Homelessness which contribution is to deliver aspects of the Queensland Housing Strategy 2017 – 2027 and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Action Plan

    You will develop, manage and deliver capital works projects for government within departmental standards, on time and on budget.

    • Lead a small team, including resource management and planning; application of financial and human resources delegations; positive performance management and training; workload management to ensure appropriate and efficient service delivery as well as monitoring, analysing and reporting on key performance indicators.
    • Prepare timely and well researched briefings, reports, budgets, submissions, ministerial and departmental correspondence on major operational issues.
    • Manage responses to information requests related to the Healthy Housing program to a range of stakeholders (including ministerial and other areas of the department) often within short timeframes.
    • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other areas of the department particularly with Property Services, QBuild (the service delivery provider), and the department's Housing Service Centres.
    • Maintain knowledge and understanding of cross-cultural protocols and departmental policies to effectively and sensitively consult, negotiate and communicate with partners, stakeholders and customers.
    • Lead and ensure you establish and maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.

    What we are looking for

    • A critical requirement of the position is an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols and issues to effectively and sensitively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers, councils and communities.
    • Effectively manage new and unexpected events and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues.
    • Generate and share creative ideas and suggestions for improvement.
    • Seek clarity of tasks and know what is expected of you.
    • Work collaboratively with others for the benefit of our customers.
    • Demonstrated skills in project management with clear and concise written and verbal communication.

    Mandatory requirements

    • Class C Driver's Licence.
    • Fieldwork is a requirement of this role. Conditions in the field can be changeable requiring varying degrees of situational awareness, vigilance and management of risk.
