The Company.....
Our QLD Government Org. is seeking an experienced Agricultural Economist to work on several projects focused on targeting sustainability and profitability within Agriculture.

The position will be primarily responsible for the economic evaluation of new technology and management practice changes occurring in sugarcane and other cropping production systems. The position is to be located in Mareeba or Rockhampton.

The Job.....
In this Agricultural Economist role, you will be responsible for:

• Leading projects to deliver economic evaluations and improved profitability and sustainability targets
• Support in the professional development of regional economists
• Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with landholders, industry organisations, colleagues, natural resource management groups, universities and other government agencies
• Developing bio-economic models and use other economic analysis methods to assess agricultural production activities
• Using appropriate economic methodologies to analyse project data in a timely manner and prepare related communication materials
• Utilise and provide training to stakeholders in the use of departmental economic decision support tools

You.....
To be successful in this role, you must have experience in the following:

• Bachelor's degree in economics, business, agribusiness or commerce (including economics / finance / accounting) is required.
• A passion to help the agricultural sector and/or applied experience in agriculture will be highly regarded.
• You will be required to undertake overnight travel to fulfil certain tasks. The role will require travel to regional areas.
• You must have a valid Australian driver's licence.
