    The Resourcing Unit is responsible for leading the research, development, provision, procurement, contracts, administration, delivery, maintenance and compliance of all SES Uniforms, Personal Protective Environment (PPE), Fleet, Radio Communications and Equipment for the SES Volunteers and Staff.

    Reporting to the Executive Manager, SES Resourcing you will be a key member of the team contributing to the audit, review, development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems for SES fleet and equipment, including registers to ensure suitability for use and maintenance of resources to meet operational requirements. You will provide high-level administrative services and assist in the maintenance of SharePoint and web products that contribute to an environment in which high quality resources and business improvement functions align with departmental and legislative requirements, and supports business operations and the delivery of services to Queensland SES volunteers.

    Please note this position will be transitioning to Queensland Police Service (QPS) as part of a Machinery of Government Change prior to 30 June 2024, with the State Emergency Services (SES) due to become an entity of the QPS. As part of this transition, you will be required to undergo QPS vetting in accordance with the Police Service Administration Act 1990.

    Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

    Purpose of the role

    Key requirements

    Highly desirable requirements
    • Queensland Government Procurement (Level 1 or 2 certification).
    • Experience as a volunteer or with volunteer organisations.

    Special requirements
    • The incumbent will be appointed as a staff member of the SES and the hours of duty applicable to this role are pursuant to the Queensland Public Service Officers and Other Employees Award - State 2015: specifically, the spread of ordinary hours for SES staff are 0600 to 2200, Monday to Sunday.

    Capacity to participate in an out of hours on call roster during disaster operations. This may require working extended hours, outside of normal hours (eg night shift), including weekends.

    Capacity to work on night and/or weekend to suit an SES volunteer environment.

    Your key accountabilities

    Responsibilities

    Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
    • Provide high-level administrative and program support, including maintaining document management systems, filling and tracking of program and asset registers, including ad-hoc reporting.
    • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of tools, practices and procedures to meet capability and sustainability programs for divergent and geographically diverse community risk profiles.
    • Administrate and manage content of program information on media portals, SharePoint and websites including user support and help desk services as required.
    • Provide advice and information to senior management on a range of business improvement strategies, policy and procedures to enable decision making processes.
    • Manage governance controls and procurement of SES equipment and assets in accordance with allocated financial budgets, as required to ensure effective administration of supply chain activities.
    • Research, analyse, monitor and report on information relevant to allocated projects to support fleet and property management and maintenance modernisation activities.
    • Assist in the preparation and review of correspondence, briefings and reports on matters relevant to strategic communication and program activities in accordance with departmental requirements.
    • Develop and maintain working relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in relation to procurement and asset management deliverables and initiatives.
