    Are you an experienced educational leader with a passion for shaping the future of students and schools? Normanton State School is seeking a Deputy Principal for a temporary full-time position commencing 8 July 2024 until 6 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

    The Deputy Principal will usetheir knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and the teaching of reading and their ability to develop staff capability to improve the outcomes of students.

    They will be a part of a team who will support student engagement, and will nurture positive relationships between students, staff, the community andstakeholders.

    Normanton State School is a remote, rural school that offers learning experiences for students from Prep to Year 10. We are a co-educational school and we cater for students with a range of learning needs and interests.

    We offer a range of curriculum opportunities from Prep to Year 10 and ensure that all students are catered for.

    About the Role:


    As the Deputy Principal you will lead the implementation of the Reading Strategy as a whole school approach through embedding systematic processes to support staff capability to teach reading.

    They will work in collaboration to introduce the changes and to modify the reading program and strategies used.
    You will work towards improving student engagement, and support existing wellbeing, behaviour management and attendance processes.

    The Deputy Principal will apply an inclusive and data-informed approach to continue to build staff capability to further enhance strategies to differentiate for diverse student needs.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

    Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.

    Deputise for the Principal when required.
    Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
    Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
    Set high standards for student and staff performance.
