    The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Meteorology with an expected starting date of August 2024. The position is posted at the assistant-professor level.

    The successful candidate should have interest and expertise in one or more areas relevant to weather and climate extremes. Skillsets such as coupled modeling, and research in involving tropical meteorology and climate change will be a plus.

    The successful candidate will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses; conduct and maintain an active, externally funded research program; publish scholarly work; mentor graduate students; and engage in service activities. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in a relevant field, postdoctoral experience, and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, as well as an interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

    Florida Tech is a private, engineering-focused research university providing comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences (OEMS) has 23 faculty members. Undergraduate and graduate degree programs include atmospheric, ocean, and life sciences, as well as ocean engineering. OEMS has approximately 250 undergraduate students, and 90 MS and PhD students.
