    Our Field Services group has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team and deliver high level innovative solutions which have a significant impact on the optimal life and performance of UU's water and wastewater assets, both now and in the future.

    The Field Services Group is accountable for the performance and optimisation of maintenance on Urban Utilities' assets, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction is delivered to over 600,000 properties and 1.3 million of customers within Urban Utilities service regions. Field Services delivers over 100,000 maintenance activities annually through both a large in-house workforce and a number of Maintenance Partner commercial arrangements.

    The Maintenance Delivery Team is responsible for management, maintenance and service reliability of Urban Utilities' (UU) control system assets across our entire water and sewer network and in all our treatment plants. These assets include:

    • SCADA systems, related applications and configuration management;
    • field telemetry and communication networks;
    • in field PLCs, RTUs and other remote monitoring devices; and
    • associated local and wide area control systems networks.

    Reporting to our Maintenance Delivery Leader – Control System, the Senior Control Systems Engineer will provide highly competent, technical leadership to support the team lead as well as technical direction and operational oversight of the control systems within our sewage treatment plants and water/sewer networks. The role will be responsible for the technical review and continuous improvement of planned and responsive maintenance, delivering control system infrastructure and maintenance projects and providing technical support to the broader UU business.

    About you:

    • Bachelor degree in related Engineering discipline (e.g. Electrical, Computer, Computer Systems, Microelectronics, Mechatronic, Infomechatronic, Mechanical, Process) recognised by the Institute of Engineers, Australia and substantial work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience
    • Demonstrated relevant experience in SCADA systems, related applications and configuration management; field telemetry and communication networks; PLCs, RTUs and other remote monitoring devices; and associated local and wide area control systems networks.
    • Demonstrated IT/OT background with knowledge of hardware, software, instrumentation, communications and process control in relation to field based operational technology
    • Demonstrated ability to steer multiple initiatives, independently engage with a wide range of stakeholders/delivery partners and technically contribute to a 24/7/365 operating environment
    • Strategic thinking with the ability to align technology solutions with business objectives.
    • Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues
    • Open Drivers License

    Also highly desirable:

    • Relevant post-graduate qualifications such as Business, Management, Project Management, Information Systems
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
    • Eligible for corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia
