    About the opportunity

    The Sydney Pharmacy School is recognised as one of the leading centres for pharmacy research and education in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from medication management to co-design, as well as from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.

    We are seeking AssociateLecturers in Pharmacy (Education Focused) to join the School in a continuing capacity. This position will allow you to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning efforts within the school while working with the support of senior academic staff to develop your research profile and education portfolio.

    The successful candidate will join a strong team of pharmacy academics and work with academics and researchers from across the Faculty of Medicine and Health, within the health sector and also across the University of Sydney multidisciplinary initiatives.

    Areas of expertise of the successful candidates can be in the broad areas of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice or health services research. In the practice area this includes (but is not limited to) evidence-based health care, pharmacoepidemiology, implementation science, health economics, pharmacometrics, health services research, quality use of medicines, patient-centred care and pharmacy services. In the area of the pharmaceutical sciences this can include drug discovery and delivery, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, modelling and simulation, structural and cell biology and molecular pharmacology.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    • undertake teaching in discipline, area of expertise or related area (primarily at undergraduate and/or graduate diploma level
    • engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education-focused staff
    • develop expertise in teaching under the supervision of senior academic staff within the School
    • engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education
    • engage in supervision of research students at undergraduate level, in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the School
    • make an outstanding contribution to governance and collegial life within the University
    • develop profile through conferences, seminars and outreach activities (eg. schools outreach, orientation activities)
    • maintain an understanding of the University's strategic agenda and actively contributes to furthering that agenda.

    About you

    • have a PhD in a relevant field (or working towards one)
    • a developing knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practice and design
    • demonstrated understanding of the subject-matter within the discipline
    • experience in conducting original research and/or engaging in scholarly activity
    • experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings.
