    Description

    This role will be responsible for the accurate preparation and reconciliation of financial accounts, overseeing accounts payable and payroll processes, and ensuring general ledger integrity. You will also play a crucial role in preparing and submitting monthly indirect tax returns.

    • 6 month contract opportunity for extension

    What you'll do:

    As a Financial Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy of financial accounts through meticulous preparation and reconciliation. You will oversee key processes such as accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Your role will extend to preparing and submitting monthly indirect tax returns, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will also assist in preparing financial statements while liaising with external auditors. Your ability to identify efficiencies in these processes will contribute significantly to the smooth operation of the finance department.

    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and liaise with external auditors during interim and final audits
    • Prepare necessary documentation and provide explanations for audits
    • Ensure the general ledger is complete and accurate by agreed close-off date
    • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of payroll, standing, and general journals
    • Prepare and lodge various tax returns, mainly monthly BAS return, annual payroll tax return, and annual FBT return for the trustee
    • Review timely accounts payable and payroll processing, credit card reconciliations, AR invoices, and bank reconciliations
    • Support Finance Officer during periods of leave and peak workload
    • Identify and implement efficiencies

    What you bring:

    The ideal candidate for this Financial Accountant role brings a strong foundation in accounting principles coupled with hands-on experience in accounting operations. You possess an undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent qualification along with membership of a professional accounting body. Your understanding of reconciliation processes combined with your intermediate Excel skills will be crucial in this role. Your knowledge of company and taxation practices, along with your experience in a similar role, will enable you to hit the ground running.

    • Undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent
    • Membership of a professional accounting body with achieved or progressing CA/CPA status
    • Knowledge of financial accounting principles
    • Understanding of reconciliation processes
    • Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills including functions and export/import routines
    • Knowledge of company and taxation practices
    • Experience in a similar Accounting Operations role with exposure to Accounts Payable, payroll, and reconciliations
    • Hands-on experience with general journals and standing journals
