  • About the Ignite Indigenous Traineeship Program

    The Ignite Indigenous Traineeship Program offers on-the-job training and vocational education training (VET) to Indigenous peoples in Greater Western Sydney within a higher education organisation. Further information on the Ignite Indigenous Traineeship Program is available at

    About the Role
    This 12-month opportunity offers administration experience in a business environment alongside VET studies. This is full-time, fixed-term role with multiple positions available in 2024, distributed across various Schools, Divisions, and Institutes at Western Sydney University. Note that some roles may be shared among business units, requiring trainees to travel between campuses. The role includes:

  • Completing a Certificate III in Business Administration.
  • Providing service/administrative support.
  • Managing record keeping and filing systems.
  • Utilising computerised information systems.
  • Prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborating with colleagues.
  • Building professional relations with stakeholders.

    About You
    To be successful in this exciting role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Completed year 9 level of schooling or equivalent.
  • Interest in general business administration duties.
  • Commitment to enrol and complete a 12-month Certificate III in Business (Administration) traineeship.
  • No prior completion of formal education or training resulting in a qualification.

    Remuneration Package: HEW Level 1 $68,908 to $71,648 (comprising salary of $58,228 to $60,543 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
