    The Opportunity

    Join the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. You will contribute independently and/or as a team member to collaborative research with a focus on enhancing the quality of research outcomes. Working independently or in a collaborative research team you will enhance the quality of research outcomes in the discipline area of Greenhouse Gas Emission Estimations .

    This position will give you the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities by supporting the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels and outlets and contributing to the development of business cases. You will also have the opportunity to participate in conferences and workshops, assist with the supervision of students, and have active engagement with fellow researchers.

    Skills & Experience:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience/demonstrated skills in greenhouse gas emission observations and estimations including ground-based continuous monitoring.
  • Proven ability to apply advanced data analytics/programming for atmospheric dispersion modelling and familiarity with available atmospheric modelling packages.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with 3D point cloud data/images to analyse the greenhouse gas concentrations and airflow characteristics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in statistics and related machine learning concepts to make complex deep learning models with 2D and 3D time series data.
  • Possess strong computational and statistical skills, with experience in Python (preferred) and C++ programming languages.
  • Demonstrated track record of high-quality journal publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
