    Position Summary

    The Business and Technology Group delivers the corporate functions which support the organisation by

    providing Human Resources (HR), Finance, ICT, and accommodation services.

    The People and Facilities Unit (PFU) provides internal client service and support for recruitment, learning and

    development, work health and safety, workplace relations, workforce reporting, staff performance, reception,

    and facilities.

    We cross-skill our team members to help develop broad HR knowledge and skills, and to ensure our work

    stays interesting. We are therefore seeking enthusiastic HR Officers to join our Recruitment team within the

    PFU, who are interested in working across a variety of Human Resource functions. We have a vacancy

    available at the APS 4 and at the APS 5 level.

    The HR Officer is an integral part of the team. You will be given the opportunity to contribute your expertise

    to practices, policies, and processes that will positively shape the recruitment needs of the AIHW now and

    into the future.

    To be successful in this role, you will have strong organisational skills, excellent communication and

    interpersonal skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a positive customer service-driven attitude. You will

    be someone who thrives working in a fast-paced environment, be able to apply sound judgement, and who

    effectively manages competing priorities. In return, you will be supported by a small close-knit team, gain

    broader experience across various HR functions, and work closely with team leaders on key projects.

    In accordance with the relevant APS work level standards, and with the support of your Team Leader, you

    will:


    • Partner with business areas to provide expert, solutions-focused, legislatively compliant, and

    contemporary HR advice on a range of HR functions, primarily recruitment.


    • Administer the e-Recruit system including managing end-to-end processes, from advertising to

    onboarding.


    • Deliver day-to-day recruitment processes including:

    o providing accurate, innovative advice to stakeholders across the agency and at Senior

    Executive level about best practice recruitment processes

    o briefing Selection Panels and assisting them with the recruitment process

    o managing the recruitment inbox to respond to queries from both applicants and Selection

    Panels

    o preparing commencement documentation such as contracts and payroll information

    o coordination of the onboarding process for new starters including initiating police checks

    and administering probation

    o managing the temporary employment register and

    o reporting.


    • Process and respond to a range of HR requests/forms via the digital service desk.


    • Provide accurate and timely advice and assistance to both staff and managers in relation to HR

    policies, procedures, and employment conditions.


    • Contribute to team planning and continuous business improvements to ensure high quality, efficient

    and effective Recruitment and HR services are delivered for the AIHW.


    • With the assistance of the APS 4s, the APS 5 will lead the delivery of recruitment initiatives including

    internships, secondments, the graduate program, and AIHW bulk recruitment processes.

    1. Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast

    paced environment.

    2. Demonstrated ability to use your expertise to problem solve, provide accurate advice, and foster

    effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

    3. The ability to communicate with influence including listening actively and clearly articulating your

    message in oral and written forms to provide a high-quality client service experience.

    4. Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work within, and contribute to, a team.

    5. The ability to act with integrity, showing accountability, sound judgement and professionalism.

    Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or APS recruitment experience, particularly with an e

    recruitment system such as Hire Road or similar, will be highly regarded.
