    About the role

    Delivering peak-power for the times when it matters most.

    Located in Melbourne's outer north, AGL's Somerton power station provides valuable backup electricity supply to Victorians during periods of high demand or in the event of a major failure of the transmission system.

    While the facility generally operates three or four hours at a time to meet demand during summer and winter weekday mornings and afternoons, it is able to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    We have an exciting new opportunity for an Operator / Maintainer to join our team. You will be responsible for the maintenance of generating equipment, including routine inspections, condition monitoring, preventative and breakdown maintenance, fault finding and performance monitoring.

    What you'll be doing

    • Perform preventative, planned, fault rectification and break down maintenance of assets.
    • Prepare work records and reports as required, including input into SAP.
    • Review and update documents, drawings and procedures as required.
    • Prepare, receive, issue and cancel Permit to work authorities whilst insuring compliance with Safe Access Rules.
    • Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Regulations and organisational goals are adhered to at all times.
    • Provide technical support to Engineering and Project teams.

    About You

    The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Fitter background with exposure to a heavy industrial environment, ideally Power generation with the ability to work independently within a small, close-knit team.

    What you bring to the table

    • Trade qualifications in either a Mechanical or Electrical field.
    • Mechanical fitting and machining trade background.
    • A current, valid driver's licence is essential.
    • Exposure to High Voltage electrical, mechanical and hydraulic infrastructure is highly desirable.
    • Experience in hydraulic / pneumatic process systems and testing is highly regarded.
    • Well-developed fault finding skills.
    • Exposure to SAP is advantageous.
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
