    About us:

    Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and the main referral hub for Central Queensland. The hospital has a strong emphasis on growing its own medical workforce and provides training for students affiliated with University of Queensland and Central Queensland Rural Clinical Schools.

    Specialist Medical Services offered at the Rockhampton Hospital include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics. These services are provided in collaboration with tertiary hospitals in Queensland.

    About the role:

    We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) who can provide high-quality nursing care in a variety of settings.

    • Supplies nursing services within health service settings;
    • Demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation, and context of care;
    • Able to practise independently and interdependently;
    • Assumes accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, and Healthcare workers;
    • Demonstrates evidence of increasing autonomy and exercises greater levels of professional judgement in the clinical environment as the employee moves from a beginning to an experienced practitioner;
    • This role reports operationally and professionally to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) of Medical 1, Interim care Unit;
    • This role will work directly with Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Health, and Medical staff within the service.

    About you:

    • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and current annual practicing certificate;
    • Demonstration in the provision of safe, evidence-based, client-focused care within the unit;
    • Ability to contribute towards the efficient functioning of the unit with a strong focus on effective teamwork within the multidisciplinary setting;
    • Interpersonal and communication skills that support competent health care practice, delegation and supervision of Enrolled Nurses and Student Nurses.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Providing nursing care to patients in accordance with individual needs and preferences;
    • Developing and implementing individualised care plans in consultation with multidisciplinary teams;
    • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records;
    • Participating in quality improvement activities and contributing to the development of policies and procedures;
    • Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

    What we offer:

    Total remuneration value of up to $121,106 p.a. is comprised of:

    • An hourly rate between $41.73 – 53.53 p.h.;
    • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution;
    • 17.5% leave loading.
