    : ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) are looking for experienced and highly motivated people to fill permanent and temporary positions of Senior Policy Officer, in the Ministerial Support unit, within the Office of the Commissioner branch.

    The successful applicant will prepare and review relevant ministerial briefings, speeches, and correspondence, including proof reading and critically examining documents and liaising with the respective Minister or Executive on any suggested amendments.

    You will interpret existing policy, legislation, and practices to create insightful, concise, and intelligible products.

    These positions will require the successful applicant to develop and maintain networks across industry, government, and other stakeholders to elicit support, involvement, and knowledge relevant to and impacting corrective services.

    These positions will also support the achievement of program objectives in a timely and professional manner and to a high standard.

    To be successful in the role, the Senior Policy Officer will need to be highly organised, pay attention to detail and be able to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders across government, the community sector, academia, and the public. The Senior Policy officer will need to be self-motivated, respond quickly to changing priorities and show initiative, sound judgement and an ability to adhere to tight timeframes.

    Eligibility/Other requirements:

  • A working knowledge and understanding of Cabinet, Ministerial, Parliamentary and machinery of Government processes is desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, e.g. Law, Criminology, Social Sciences, or working towards such a qualification is desirable.
  • Notes: There are two positions available. One is a permanent vacancy, and the other is temporary up to six months with a possibility of permanency.
