    Description

    How will I help?As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Financial Markets (FM), you will be responsible for the sustainable and efficient day-to-day operations of the FM business.

    This role includes direct management of non-financial risks and control implementation (first line of defence), business transformation, business enablement and FM Strategy.

    The role will partner with the General Manager, Financial Markets, and the FM leadership team to execute on business strategy, manage risk and regulatory change, and deliver major technology and transformation initiatives.

    You will be responsible for leading a broad range of operational teams and initiatives to drive strategic execution, operational excellence, process improvement and resource optimisation across the FM business.


    You will also:
    Manage the investment (BSR) process for Financial Markets, working with Transformation and Technology to prioritise and allocate resourcing.

    Lead the delivery of analysis and insights to customers via the FM Strategy team, including via Westpac IQ.Oversee and implement appropriate policies, systems, procedures and controls to ensure the effective management and governance of FM operational risks.

    Represent Financial Markets with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, vendors and regulators.

    What do I need?You will have significant experience functioning at a senior level in a major financial institution, preferably with deep operational and risk management experience.

    You will be a leader of leaders who drives business strategy and operational excellence through others, with the ability to switch between detailed inquiry and broad strategic thinking.


    You will have:
    Experience managing and delivering large-scale programs of work in a highly complex environment.
    Operational and risk management experience, with an understanding of governance best practice.
    Business strategy and organisational planning skills.
    Proactive talent management – attraction, retention, mentoring and coaching.
