    Description

    The Senior Business Analyst supports the analysis, management and delivery activities required to implement business improvement initiatives and projects within the department.


    In this role you will:
    Elicit and document business requirements using a variety of business analysis techniquesInterpret business needs and translate those into functional and non-functional requirements and software specifications where necessaryEnsure business requirements are communicated to both software development and test teamsWork with technical staff and act as a conduit between business customers and technical staff to define /refine requirements and develop solutionsDevelop and maintain standards for delivery of business analysis function using ICT industry best practicesEnsure standard of documentation and tools used to elicit and capture business processes is consistently adopted within the businessNegotiate and influence business users to drive efficiency through improved business practicesLiaise with stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of the department and recommend technology solutions that assist in achieving agency outcomesEnsure stakeholders understand available ICT services and promote financial awareness with a view to delivering value for moneyDevelop strong relationships with business and technical staff on the requirements that inform ICT solution designNegotiate effectively with customers to identify needs and business solutions and facilitate workshops to clarify and negotiate business outcomesEstablish and maintain collaborative networks with business and other stakeholdersRespond to changes in customer needs and expectationsEnsure timely and appropriate responses to system issues reported by staffMaintain a professional customer focusUndertake other duties as directed to support delivery of departmental priorities

    Role Fit:
    The essential requirements for this role are:5+ years' experience in business analyst roles, including creation and implementation of structured internal service delivery processes contributing to the successful and timely delivery of complex ICT projects and initiativesAbility to proactively lead the Business Analysis team and function of the Digital Services and IT GroupExcellent stakeholder management skillsComprehensive and contemporary knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and PRINCE2 Project Management MethodologySignificant Business Analyst experience in an IT environment with strong skills in the development of requirements and specifications according to industry standardsStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsHigh level of written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex system and process concepts which both business users and IT Technical staff can interpretAbility to cultivate productive working relationships and communicate with influenceStrong facilitation and elicitation skills to lead business in definition of desired outcomes, business processes and requirementsAbility to conceptualise broader business issues, structures and operationsUnderstanding of governance frameworksKnowledge of risk management frameworks and experience in applying to an ICT environmentExperience in an ICT operational environment

    Further details:
    8 Hours/day - 40 Hour working week.
    The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal History Check.
