The successful applicant will lead and manage a team of line pilotsensuring aircraft, crews and equipment is at a high state of readiness for emergency response.
You will fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), twin engine helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.

The Role:

You will fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), twin engine helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.
The successful applicant will also oversee flight conduct, safety and standardisation, and will maintain base flying currencies, rostering, and training requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
Your Key Accountabilities will include:
Administer and conduct training and checking programs in accordance with the organisations Operations Manual.
Ensure aircraft, crews and role equipment is at a high state of readiness to meet the needs of a 24-hour emergency response.
Lead and manage a team of line pilots and maintain oversight of base flying currencies, rostering, and training requirements, in accordance with Human Resource and WHS management practices.
Maintain oversight of base operational flight conduct, safety and standardisation.Fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR), twin engine helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.
Work with the Head of Training and Checking to ensure base pilot recency and currency programs are achieved within required expiry dates.
Mandatory requirements:
Licences & Ratings:
Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
Low Level Rating
Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating
Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - 4 Renewals
Minimum 2500 hours total time
Minimum 1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter
Minimum 500 hours Night PIC Helicopter
Minimum 1000 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter
Minimum 1200 hours Turbine Helicopter
Minimum 100 hours NVIS Operations
Certifications & Documentation:
Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
Current Class 1 Aviation Medical
Highly desirable:
Licences & Ratings:
Flight Instructor Rating (FER) - Multi Engine or previous Military Equivalent
Type Ratings:
AW139 Type Rating
Certifications & Documentation:
Hold a current Australian Passport
Special Conditions:
Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.
In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.
The preferred applicant will be required to undertake temporary touring duties at any base operated by the Aviation Capability Group.
The successful applicant must comply with the organisations Drug and Alcohol Management PlanApplications to remain current for 12 months.
