    Principal Project Officer - Strategic Engagement

    An exciting opportunity exists to join the new Strategic Engagement Branch and contribute to design and implementation of responses to disengaged youth and the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (Disability Royal Commission). There is one permanentposition and two fixed term temporary positions, with fixed term temporary positions being for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

    • Contribute to program design, policy analysis and advice in delivering youth reforms to respond to the challenges of disengagement and the Department's response to and delivery of national disability reform commitments.
    • Establish and maintain effective project management processes and activities to support team priorities and track key pieces of work.
    • Use your strong communications skills to establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders to inform responses to and implementation of disability and youth reform.
    • Apply effective engagement and advisory skills to consult schools and regions in program design and guide practices to align with program design and departmental policy
    • Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to national disability reform.
    • Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies and other entities on issues related to disability reform.

    • Exceptional project management skills, agile, and highly organised
    • Attention to detail and excellent coordination skills
    • Strong policy, briefing, government processes, and data analysis skills
    • Demonstrated ability to autonomously manage competing priorities and respond in tight timelines
    • A background in coordinating complex initiatives and implementing and following effective processes, including record keeping and monitoring progress of key deliverables
    • Demonstrated ability to develop thorough knowledge of complex policy matters to provide synthesised advice and options
    • Effective and respectful stakeholder management and liaison skills
    • Ability to advise and guide schools or regions in the application of departmental policies or programs
    • A commitment to continuous learning, including being able to provide and receive advice and feedback.
